Center for Studies on Productive Structure, Human Development, and Sustainability

The Center for Studies on Productive Structure, Human Development, and Sustainability (NEPDHS) aims to investigate the relationship between the sophistication of the productive structure and aspects of human development and sustainable development. On one hand, studies on productive structure relate to topics such as Economic Complexity, economic diversification, and export diversification. On the other hand, topics on human development and sustainable development encompass social issues (e.g., education, health, employment, infrastructure) and environmental issues (e.g., pollutant emissions, ecological footprint, Bioeconomy, Circular Economy). This research group primarily uses quantitative methods (e.g., econometric models and Data Envelopment Analysis – DEA), as well as Systematic Literature Reviews and data visualization. In this regard, the involved researchers provide insights into current societal issues to generate relevant policy recommendations for policymakers, particularly in developing countries.

There are three research lines within the group:

  • Productive Structure and Human Development
  • Productive Structure and Sustainable Development
  • Bioeconomy and Circular Economy
